Information about Wegovy & Zepbound

Dear Patient,

We want to make sure you’re fully informed as you begin your treatment with Wegovy or Zepbound. These medications can be a helpful part of your care plan, but unfortunately, they are not always covered by insurance.

Our office will submit a prior authorization to your insurance company to request coverage. However, please know that approval is not guaranteed. Each insurance plan has different rules, and some may not cover these medications at all—or may only approve them under very specific conditions.

If your insurance does not approve the medication, or if the cost remains too high, there are cash-pay options available directly through the manufacturers:

  • Wegovy (by Novo Nordisk)

    • You may qualify for a savings offer or assistance through the Wegovy Savings Card or the NovoCare® Patient Assistance Program. More info: www.Wegovy.com

  • Zepbound (by Eli Lilly)

    • Lilly offers a Zepbound Savings Card and may also provide reduced-cost options for patients without insurance coverage. More info: www.Zepbound.com

If your prior authorization is denied, our team will let you know and help guide you on what to do next.

Please feel free to ask any questions during your visit today or send us a Patient Portal message if you have any additional questions or concerns that come up after your visit.

Thank you,

Your Care Team at the Diabetes & Glandular Disease Clinic
